AOE currently administers over one half of the existing alternative dispute resolution programs for workers' compensation in the State of California, resolving the vast majority of work-related injury cases that occur in such programs. AOE also administers all the alternative dispute resolution programs for workers' compensation in the State of Hawaii. More than 50,000 union members working for several hundred employers are covered under AOE-administered workers' compensation alternative dispute resolution programs. AOE oversees privatized workers' compensation systems that replace inefficient and wasteful systems offered by State governments. Injured workers retain all rights while participating in AOE programs. AOE dispenses information to injured workers and assists them in resolving their claims equitably while giving those workers direction in navigating through the dispute resolution system. AOE's knowledge and intimate familiarity with claims-handling processes allows for early resolution of disputes between injured workers and the insurance companies that provide coverage for their work-related injuries. |
